VHS Counseling Services
Mission Statement
The mission of our comprehensive school counseling program is to enable all students, regardless of individual differences, to acquire the educational, occupational, and personal/social competencies necessary to contribute and function in a complex and changing world.
Our Philosophy
We believe that each student is a unique individual with different physical, emotional, and intellectual characteristics. Each individual, given the respect, motivation, and learning environment, can develop a positive self-image that will, in turn, help the student make the necessary progress toward the attainment of his or her goals.
A student's self-image is formed from past experiences by successes and failures. A healthy self-image must encompass a realistic appraisal of one's capabilities and also a realization that one can be successful in life. As counselors, we strive to assist all students with their academic, career, and personal/social development, which will enable successful completion of a high school program and their becoming a successful contributor to the world around them.
